Independent Living Survey 2016

This Survey is for Disabled and Older Adults who need help and support with

independent living.

About this survey

This short survey is being carried out by a group of organisations and activists who are interested in independent living. We conducted a similar survey last year and you can see last years report here .As a result of that report  we produced a set of key messages about your rights under the new Care Act 2014.

One year on we want to know about the experiences of people who access support from their local authority and find out whether choice and control over that support is changing.

To help us understand these issues we would be extremely grateful if you could spare a few moments to complete this short survey to share your own experiences.

You can ask someone to help you complete this survey or they may complete it on your behalf with your agreement.

Keeping your personal information safe

We will keep your personal information safe and the survey results will be anonymous. We will not publish any material that will identify you .

You do not have to provide your name, but we very much hope you will share your email address with us so we can keep in contact and you can help us monitor people’s experiences of support over time.

Personal budgets and direct payments

Under the Care Act 2014, everyone whose needs are met by the local authority must receive a personal budget saying how much money has been allocated to meet their needs. The money in the budget can be held by the council, by a care provider or given to the person who needs support as a direct payment.

In this survey we ask which option you have, and then ask questions about ‘money for your support’.. this means both personal budgets and direct payments.
